HISTORY

Our club has been operating as Bodrum Municipality Bodrumspor Club Sailing Branch since July 24, 2006. However, in 2006, it became sailing branches of two separate sports clubs, Bodrum Municipality Sports Club and Bodrumspor Club. We first started our activities in the center of Bodrum in 2004, where the Seafarers’ Association is now located. A year later, we continued our activities in Azmakbaşı, located in Kumbahçe Mahallesi. However, we had to constantly relocate as we did not have a permanent facility in both locations. We have achieved to acquire a solid institutional structure in July 2006. We continue our activities in Bodrum Municipality Sailing Club facilities, where we still operate. We have been maintaining our corporate identity under the name of Bodrum Municipality Bodrumspor Club Sailing Branch since the decision of corporate merger of Bodrum Belediye Spor and Bodrumspor in July 2006.

In 2022, the number of licensed athletes is 52. However, we introduce an average of 250 new children and adults to sailing every year in our summer sailing school. In 16 years, we can say that we introduced 4000 people to sailing on average. We have also sailing courses for adults.
The boats we train are Optimist, Laser and Topper Omega (in training for adults).

We have 400 square meters of sail and boat storage area, 2 sports locker rooms for 40 people, 2 classrooms for 25 people, a boat mooring pier, a boat landing ramp and an area with a storage capacity of 500 sails in the boathouse facilities located in İçmeler district of Bodrum Municipality, where we continue our activities.
