Driven with the mission and responsibility of being a municipality club, we are determined to meet more children and young people and introduce them to sailing. In connection with this, we have a goal that we have adopted as a club: “There should be no children left in Bodrum who do not meet sailing”.
While we set this mission and target ourselves, we were aware of Bodrum and the sea and sailing potential of Bodrum. Because Bodrum is a City by the sea. It is a city that provides a significant part of its economy from the sea, sea tourism and its side activities.
A child living in Bodrum and graduating from primary school needs to know how to sail and swim. Because people of this geography have the sea in their blood and their nature. All that remains is to uncover and process this potential.
In order to achieve these goals, we signed a cooperation protocol with the Bodrum Municipality, Bodrum District Directorate of National Education, and the Turkish Sailing Federation within the scope of the “I Live in Bodrum, I am Meeting Sailing” project.
With the project, it was aimed to raise healthy generations, to ensure the physical and spiritual development of students, to make independent decisions and to develop their ability to solve problems.
Hüseyin Turgut Karabağlı Secondary School and Atatürk Primary School were identified as pilot schools within the scope of the project, which is a first in Turkey. In this context, we bring our students at our project schools together with sea and sailing in the second semester of each academic year.
